ALDERLEY EDGE, CHESHIRE
Alderley Edge is designated an SSSI for its geological interest. It has a long history of copper mining, going back to prehistoric and Roman times. The mines are open twice a year, organised by the Derbyshire Caving Club. There are views across Cheshire and the Peak District and numerous paths through the oak and beech woodlands, including a link to Hare Hill.
