WELLBROOK BEETLING MILL, TYRONE

Beetling was the final stage in the production of linen, an industry of major importance in 18th-century Ireland. The mill has its original hammer machinery, used to beat a sheen into the cloth, and ‘hands-on’ demonstrations of the process are popular with children. The mill is situated in an attractive glen through which there are many good walks.
